Make food more interesting by changing its texture. Mix harder food with softer foods to increase tactile sensation. For example, put less milk in your child's cereal to make it harder. Spread peanut butter on celery (or if you have a child with a nut allergy, use tuna) or ranch dip on vegetables. Crisp foods provide auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic feedback to help biting and chewing. The point here it that harder foods require more work for the tongue. The kinesthetic input is the increased sense of movement and positioning of the tongue.
