Use atlas and globe to locate Africa and Egypt. Discuss what
type of landscape is there ie desert, oasis, delta, palm trees, etc.

Lap Book: Word Scramble; cut out the letters to the words:
delta, oasis, tomb, desert, pyramid, and sun. Paperclip the letters together
and store in pocket. Have student pull out letters and work on one word at a
time, give hints if needed.

Language and Writing

Lap Book: Learn the Egyptian Alphabet by going over the
Hieroglyphic symbols then use the symbols to spell your name. Store letters in
pocket.

Lap Book: Learn the Egyptian number symbols and how
Ancient Egyptians used them to calculate and record time and dates. Store in
lap book pocket.
Mini-Hieroglyphic Report Book: add to report book when
done.
Page 1: Use the Egyptian alphabet to write your name.
Page 2: What did Egyptians write on? Papyrus
Page 3: Who were the first people use a symbol for the
number 10? Egyptians

Have your student use the Egyptian numbers to write in
number pages on the bottom right and left corners of their Egyptian mini-report
book using the number from the Lap Book.
Lastly, take time to discuss with your children that God made a lot of different types of people and that people have changed over the years, including Egyptians. The Ancient Egyptians lived much different than modern Egyptians.
